In 2018, President Jim Ryan charged the Community Working Group with identifying opportunities to "strengthen the University’s relationship with the Charlottesville community." The group took that charge and distributed a community feedback survey, which received more than 3,000 responses from Charlottesville and Albemarle County residents. The survey was designed to be simple and quick and to result in a ranked list of priority areas that became the President's Council's six working groups on affordable housing, community safety, early childhood education, the local economy, UVA Pipelines & Pathways, and public health.

Six years later, the Council is conducting the same survey to check in with community members: Are the working groups addressing your priorities? Are you familiar with the Council's work?
